If working remotely full time is new to you, you may be wondering how to stay active during this time. Staying active not only improves your health, but also your productivity. Here are a few tips you can apply today.
Turn on your favorite songs.
Whether you want to dance, stand or do a quick stretch, taking a break from music is a fun way to stay active. It gives you a chance to take a break so you don’t have to sit for hours at a stretch.
Plan your meals as if you were in the office.
To avoid snacking in between meals throughout the day, plan your lunch and snacks and keep them in the kitchen. Take a lunch break like you would at the office and keep your pre-planned meals in the refrigerator or pantry.
Get out in the fresh air.
Walking, biking or running in the fresh air, even if it’s just 10 minutes, is a great way to be active during the day. Try to get out into the fresh air at least twice a week, and practice social distancing while you’re at it.
Consider new options for your workspace.
If you can, move your desk to a window or an area with good lighting. This will help you avoid straining your eyes in a dark work area. Desk lamps and brighter light bulbs can also brighten up your work area. Plus, a standing desk will help you burn more calories than sitting.
